Nothing of substance this week.

April 4th, 2013  |  Published in announcement

Although I’ve been trying to get in the habit of writing a blog post each week, the laptop on which I write has had an accident. That being said, I do have a couple of updates for you. I’ve been working on a YA short story, and I recently passed the 7,000 word mark, so the rough draft should be done soon. Second, I’ve been making notes for the Broken Shores story that I’m working on, and even came up with something that might work as an epigram for it: “The danger is, as always it has been, that in our reaction to violence we not only become incapable, but also undeserving of peace.” It will probably change, but it fits the story, so not too much. Finally, it is April, which means that May is coming up, and I have decided that I will run the Short Story Writing month again. However, since setting up and moderating a forum has been a pain in the ass (and time suck) I’ll probably do it as a Facebook or G+ group this year. More news on that in the next couple of weeks.

Update: I went ahead and made a Facebook page, this year all things ShoStoWriMo will be at http://www.facebook.com/ShoStoWriMo. Although, there isn’t much there now, there will be soon.

First Sale!

February 1st, 2009  |  Published in Fiction, writing

I have officially sold my first story!  It is a piece of flash fiction that is slated to run on Valentine’s Day, over at Flash Scribe, which should be officially launching today.  In any case, they seem to be an awesome group of people (AND they bought a story from me), so you should definitely go and check them out.

New site up and running

December 12th, 2008  |  Published in Uncategorized

I’ve reregistered pawnstorm.net, and it is up (although seriously incomplete). I like how it looks so far, and eventually will move the bulk of my internet presence there (I plan on keeping this blog, though, so no need to fret). Anyway, go and check it out.

A New Dawn

November 22nd, 2008  |  Published in Uncategorized

cover_smallAfter a not-so-brief hiatus, I have returned to writing.  Currently, I have several projects in the works, a couple of which are still in the rough draft stage, and one of which I plan on submitting for publication after I get some feedback.  I also plan on revamping this page, so look for changes here, as well.  Finally, as an expiriment, I have placed one of my previously unreleased short stories, Succession, for sale on the Amazon Kindle.  So we will see how that goes.

New Uprising Segment

May 7th, 2008  |  Published in announcement, Fiction, News, Publishing, SciFi, Stories, writing

I just posted a new segment over at Uprising.  Having introduced Linden as a POV character, we start to learn about some of the fundamental differences between her and Ethan.  Enjoy, and don’t forget to tell me what you think.

No Flair for Publicity

April 22nd, 2008  |  Published in Fiction, Flash Fiction, News, Publishing, SciFi, Stories, writing

One of the most underreported things about writing is that, unless your name is Steven King or J.K. Rowling, you have to publicize your work.  There is good reason for this, as I imagine most writers have at least some affinity to the romantic idealization of The Writer, sitting at his or her desk, creating art that will last centuries and change the world.  Unfortunately, partially as a result of this, I myself have missed an important opportunity.

Last week I started posting pieces of flash fiction as part of a larger project, which for now I am calling Uprising.  If I had thought it through, I would have realized that I should just start a new blog for the project, but I didn’t.  That mistake has been rectified, and the project has a home of it’s own, at http://uprising-story.blogspot.com which you should visit immediately.  I am awfully optimistic about the project, and I invite you to help that optimism be borne out.
